| Question:
You have just completed your IPC (Instrument proficiency check) with
blessings from your CFII. You have their endorsement and are
ready to fly back home in IFR conditions. You have filed your
IFR flight plan and are ready to go when you notice that your log
book only shows 5 instrument approaches accomplished in the last 6
months. Can you go or do you need to get another approach
under your belt before taking the trip home? |
| Answer: Yes you can. The IPC will 'roll you back' as if you just got your IFR rating (FAR 61.57(d)). You are clear to go even if you have a single approach in the past 6 months. Beware, however, the CFII who approves you for IFR flight by only having you do 1 approach! |
