Question:  Refer to the following NOTAM: "Oldton ID [ID23]: March NOTAM #13 Runway 32 ILS glide-slope out of service." When ATC clears you for this ILS approach, which is the best phraseology?
  1. "...cleared ILS Runway 32 approach, glide slope out of service."
  2. "...cleared Localizer Runway 32 approach."
  3. "...unable approach, glide path out of service."
  4. "cleared ILS Runway 32 approach, at your own risk."

Answer a. "...cleared ILS Runway 32 approach, glide slope out of service." Even with a component out-of-service the controller states the name of the approach, "ILS Runway 32" and then the fact that the glide slope is inop. It's up to the pilot to shoot the localizer-only procedure.
